Todos Santos Retreat Digest (7/9/26)

Hello from Todos Santos! This week, as we settle into the rhythm of our retreat, it feels like the town is settling into its own rhythm too. The weather has been a mix of warm and pleasant, just the right temperature for a good long walk on Punta Lobos or a quiet afternoon at La Poza. It’s not too hot, not too cold – just the comfortable warmth you’d expect from the Baja peninsula at this time of year. The kind of weather that makes you want to sit outside with a good book and a cold drink.

Around town, things have been gently stirring. We’ve had a few quiet art openings at the cultural center, nothing too splashy, just local artists sharing their work. There’s been a noticeable shift in the market too, with a burst of color from the seasonal fruits and vegetables – a good sign for anyone keen on fresh, local produce.

Further afield, a small group of dedicated conservationists are doing their bit to protect our precious natural spaces. It’s a reminder that, even in a place as beautiful as this, there are always battles to be fought. It’s not always about lawyers, guns, and money, sometimes it’s about invoking the powerful forces of nature.

Speaking of nature, did you know that sea turtles have a unique reproductive system that results in what scientists call “multiple paternity”? That’s right, many little sea turtles grow up not knowing who their daddies are. It’s a quirk of nature that gives these creatures an edge in their fight for survival.

On the topic of survival, there’s something uniquely captivating about the courage and determination of free divers. Their ability to face their fears and plunge into the depths is truly awe-inspiring. It’s a reminder that, when faced with a challenge, we can often find the strength within ourselves to overcome it.

As for the local music scene, there have been a few small gigs around town, nothing major, just enough to keep things interesting. The Wine Club at Las Tinajas has been hosting some delightful evenings of live music and wine tasting. There’s something magical about watching the sun set over Calle Benito Juárez while sipping on a glass of local vino.

So that’s it for this week’s update from our Todos Santos retreat. It’s been a week of small shifts and quiet transformations, of fresh produce at the market and courageous free divers. Nothing too dramatic, just the ebb and flow of life in this charming town. Until next week, stay curious, stay adventurous, and most importantly, stay grounded. After all, Todos Santos isn’t just a destination, it’s a way of life.
