Walking around town, I’ve noticed that the local market has an abundance of fresh produce. The shift in the weather has brought a change in what’s growing, and it’s a delight to see the vibrant colors of the fruits and vegetables on display. It’s even more satisfying to taste them, of course.
There was a quiet art opening at the cultural center this week. A visiting artist captured elements of Todos Santos in a series of paintings, illustrating the everyday beauty of our town. The pieces, rich with local color, convey a deep appreciation for the unique blend of culture, history, and nature that makes Todos Santos special.
I took a trip to Punta Lobos — a local spot that never fails to impress. It’s the kind of place where you can lose hours just taking in the views and enjoying the surrounding nature. The coastline stretching out from Punta Lobos is particularly mesmerizing with the warm weather casting the Pacific in a stunning light.
Down the road in Pescadero, I heard whispers of a multinational company attempting to set up a gold mining operation. It’s a pressing issue that has been met with resistance from conservation-focused groups. They’re doing their best to protect the natural area and it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on.
Further afield, Cerritos has been drawing in visitors with its sea turtles. These remarkable creatures have a fascinating reproductive process that results in what scientists call “multiple paternity”. It’s definitely a conversation starter and adds another layer to the rich tapestry of local wildlife.
Lastly, for those seeking adventure, a Mexican freediving champion was sharing her diving experiences. Her tales of diving 70 meters into the ocean with no oxygen, no light, just the air in her lungs and her wetsuit protecting her were truly captivating. It’s a reminder of the extraordinary experiences you can have in and around Todos Santos.
