Todos Santos Retreat Digest (9/3/26)

As the heat of the day starts to wane, the sense of calm that envelopes our Todos Santos retreat is something to cherish. The weather has been predictable lately, with the temperature rising to a cozy warmth during the day before settling into a cooler evening. It’s been the perfect backdrop for some of the local happenings around town, from quiet art openings to the vibrant displays at the market.

Over at Punta Lobos, you could almost believe that summer is already here, as the beach has been adorned with clusters of sea turtles making their way to and from the sea. The sight of these determined creatures is a gentle reminder of the diverse wildlife that calls this corner of Mexico home.

Speaking of wildlife, there’s been some chatter around town about a group of naturalists who have been working to protect our local biosphere from the impact of potential mining operations. The dedication these individuals have towards preserving our local environment is truly inspiring. Their efforts have added a new layer of respect for the natural beauty that surrounds us, from La Poza lagoon to the hills of nearby Pescadero.

Turning from nature to culture, the cultural center has been a hub of activity with new exhibits and classes. There’s something for everyone, from traditional crafts to modern art techniques, creating a vibrant blend of old and new that reflects the spirit of Todos Santos.

Over on Calle Benito Juárez, the local artisans have been showcasing their work, from intricately woven textiles to hand-crafted jewelry. The street has been a kaleidoscope of colors and textures, each stall offering a unique glimpse into the creativity that thrives in our community.

Speaking of color, the market has been brimming with fresh produce, the stalls overflowing with fruits and vegetables that are as vibrant in flavor as they are in color. Patches of bright red tomatoes, deep purple eggplants and sunny yellow corn have painted a lively picture of what’s currently growing in the local farmlands.

Down south, in Cerritos, there’s been a surge of surfers catching the waves. There’s something captivating about watching them dance with the ocean, their silhouettes etched against the backdrop of the setting sun. It’s a sight that perfectly caps off a week in Todos Santos.

So, here’s to another week of simple pleasures and local wonders. Here’s to another week of walking around town, observing the ebb and flow of life in Todos Santos, and soaking in the charm of our retreat. Until next time.
