Todos Santos Retreat Digest (1/15/26)

As we move through another week in Todos Santos, the days have been pleasantly warm, while the evenings have cooled off just enough to warrant a light sweater. This change in temperature, subtle as it is, reminds us of the constant ebb and flow that characterizes life in this quiet town. Life carries on: the local markets are bursting with seasonal fruits and vegetables, and the retreats we host continue to offer that much-needed respite for many visitors.

Over at Punta Lobos, there’s been an interesting blend of tranquility and activity. The waves have been generous, attracting surfers who weave through the waters with practiced ease. On the shore, sea turtles have been seen, going about their unique reproductive routines. Nature, it seems, is putting on quite a show.

For the more artistically inclined, there was a quiet art opening at the cultural center. Nothing too flashy, just local artists showcasing their works. It’s always heartening to see the creativity that thrives in this town.

Meanwhile, in the heart of Todos Santos, on Calle Benito Juárez, there are murals and street art that seem to change subtly every few days. The themes vary, from environmental issues to abstract works, mirroring the diversity and depth of our community’s concerns and imaginations.

There’s also been talk around town about the ongoing efforts to protect our local biosphere reserve. The dedication of the CONANP staff and their unwavering commitment to conservation is both inspiring and reassuring. Their work is a reminder of our responsibility towards the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Exploring beyond Todos Santos, in nearby areas like Pescadero and Cerritos, one can find traces of an old mining history. The remnants of these sites, now reclaimed by nature, are a testament to the region’s rich and varied past. They make for an interesting detour for those interested in the region’s history.

But amidst all these, the highlight of the week was perhaps the most unexpected: a pod of Orcas performing an impromptu show off the coast. It was a sight that reminded us once again of the magic that exists in the everyday here in Todos Santos.

As we look forward to another week, let’s take a moment to appreciate the simple charm of this town. Whether it’s a shift in the weather, a quiet art opening, or the abundance at the local market, Todos Santos continues to offer its quiet, understated beauty to all who are willing to see it. And for those fortunate enough to experience a Todos Santos retreat, the town has much to offer, from its natural wonders to its rich, cultural tapestry.

So here’s to another week in Todos Santos — may it bring with it the promise of new experiences and discoveries, and may it remind us of the beauty in the everyday.
