Todos Santos Retreat Digest (6/11/26)

Good evening, fellow nomads of the Todos Santos retreat. It’s been another week of our shared love for this place. It’s been warm, the kind of weather where the sun feels like a reassuring hand on your shoulder. But not too hot — just enough to make an afternoon at Punta Lobos or La Poza that much more enticing. And, as we shift into the cooler evenings, there’s a comforting breeze that whispers through Calle Benito Juárez and adds a soothing rhythm to the rustling palm fronds.

Now, as we all know, the day-to-day life here isn’t just about the weather. There’s always something happening around town. This week, the local art scene had a small but noteworthy event. An art opening — a quiet, contemplative one. No grand speeches or spotlights, just the artist and their work, baring their soul on canvas. Art, in its purest form, is such a reflection of its creator and of the place it was created in. This town, Todos Santos, has a knack for inspiring that creativity.

Over at the cultural center, they’ve been hosting classes that have been drawing quite a crowd. Botany seems to be the talk of the town at the moment, which isn’t surprising considering the unique flora we have here. It’s a magical feeling, learning about the plants around us, their names, their uses. It’s like getting to know an old friend on a whole new level. And, it’s not just the local folks who are interested. Travelers have been joining in too, eager to discover more about our town’s natural beauty.

A bit further out, in nearby Pescadero, there was an intriguing discussion about the local sea turtles. Did you know that these creatures practice what scientists call “multiple paternity”? That means each baby turtle could have a different father. Fascinating, isn’t it? Nature always finds a way to surprise and enlighten us.

Speaking of nature, there’s been some buzz about the biosphere reserve. Remember the talk about the gold mining operation that was planned? Well, turns out, the staff of the local conservation institution, armed with their knowledge and passion for the environment, managed to resist the multinational company. A testament to the power of local commitment.

On the music front, we had some light-hearted fun at the winery. It’s always refreshing to listen to live music — the strumming of the guitar, the harmony of voices — it adds a certain vibrancy to the air. This week, it was a trio doing some original tunes and tributes. Music, like art, is another way our town expresses itself. It’s part of our rhythm, our pulse.

So, there goes another week in our beloved Todos Santos. Nothing earth-shattering, just the usual ebb and flow of life. And isn’t that the charm of this place? The fact that we are not always in the limelight, rushing from one event to the next. Instead, we’re here, experiencing each day as it comes, appreciating the simple pleasures — a shift in the weather, an art opening, what’s growing at the market. That’s the beauty of our Todos Santos retreats.
