Todos Santos Retreat Digest (6/19/25)

As the days in Todos Santos shift from the cooler 20s to the warmer mid-20s, the town’s rhythm adjusts as well. The warmth prompts a slower pace, encourages a siesta, and calls for an evening stroll down Calle Benito Juárez. The weather is comfortable, as if the town itself is exhaling after a long day, and the cool ocean breeze from nearby Punta Lobos is a welcome guest.

Speaking of the ocean, the sea turtles are a hot topic lately. Their unique reproductive habits have become an intriguing conversation starter among locals and visitors alike. It seems that even the wildlife in Todos Santos has its own unique rhythm and pace, echoing the town’s relaxed and grounded nature. It’s a subtle reminder of why Todos Santos retreats are so special – this place has a way of gently nudging you to slow down and pay attention to the world around you.

Walking around town, the vibrant street art in San Cristobal de las Casas catches the eye. It’s a splash of color and a dash of local culture rolled into one. It’s not the polished art you’d find in a gallery, but it’s real, raw, and it tells a story. You might even say it’s a reflection of Todos Santos itself – a little rough around the edges, but undeniably beautiful.

In the nearby vineyards of Las Tinajas, there’s also a lot happening. The last few wine club gatherings were a delightful mix of music, tapas, and of course, wine tasting. It’s not just about the wine, though. It’s the shared experience, the communal appreciation of something local and tangible. It’s being a part of something that feels intrinsically Todos Santos.

Then there’s the buzz about the conservation efforts in Baja California Sur. The local staff of CONANP (The National Commission of Natural Protected Areas) are standing up against gold mining in the UNESCO-certified natural area. Their approach is rooted in the land and the powerful forces of nature, mirroring the respect and admiration for the natural world that is so inherent to the Todos Santos community.

But amidst all these happenings, there are also those quiet moments that make Todos Santos special. Like watching the sun set over La Poza, or discovering a new hiking trail near Pescadero, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee in the comfort of your retreat. It’s in these quiet moments that the true charm of Todos Santos shines through.

So, as we bid goodbye to another week in Todos Santos, it’s not the events or the weather changes that stick with us, but the feeling of being a part of this town’s ever-changing rhythm. And as the temperature casually climbs, we look forward to seeing what the next week will bring.
