Another week in our slice of paradise, our Todos Santos retreat. The weather has been just right: warm, but not too hot, and cool in the evenings. The kind of weather that makes you want to spend the day at Punta Lobos, toes in the sand, watching the waves roll in. Or perhaps a stroll down Calle Benito Juárez, enjoying the quiet energy of the town.
As I walked through the town this week, I couldn’t help but notice the buzz of activity at the cultural center. A quiet art opening, perhaps? Or maybe a new class being offered? It’s always interesting to see what new and creative endeavors are being pursued.
The local market, too, was a sight to behold. The stalls were overflowing with fresh produce, the fruits and vegetables vibrant with the colors of life. It’s the kind of bounty that makes you want to whip up a fresh salad or a hearty stew – something to match the comforting warmth of the weather.
Speaking of nature’s bounty, I also heard an interesting story about the staff of a conservation-driven institution standing up to a large multinational company. Something about trying to stop an open pit gold mining operation in a UNESCO-certified natural area. These are the kind of stories that remind you of the power of nature and the importance of protecting it.
I also stumbled upon an intriguing tale about sea turtles and their reproductive habits. It’s not something you think about every day, but it’s fascinating to learn about the intricacies of life in the sea. Plus, it’s always heartening to know that these wonderful creatures are part of our local ecosystem.
And let’s not forget about the local music scene. From what I hear, there have been some lively performances at the vineyard of Las Tinajas. The combination of good wine, good music, and good company is hard to beat. And with the weather being as pleasant as it has been, there’s no better time to enjoy an evening out.
As the week draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the many facets of life in Todos Santos. From the natural beauty of our surroundings, to the vibrant local culture and the dedicated people who call this place home, there’s always something new to discover. And while every week may not be special in its own right, there’s always something that makes this Todos Santos retreat worth cherishing.
